The Genius of Gymbucks

In the brief history of shopper rewards programs, Gymboree's "Gymbucks" program has got to be the most effective. I actually had a panicked moment on the way home from the coast this weekend, when I realized that today was the last day in the redemption period, and that I was in danger of NOT SPENDING MONEY ON THEIR CLOTHES! Shocking, I know.
For those of you who aren't familiar, basically there are two relevant periods: Earning and Redemption. During the "Earning" period, you earn $25 in Gymbucks for every $50 you spend. Then you have to wait for the "Redemption" period, when you can use $25 for every $50 you spend. So all told, you can get $200 worth of clothes for $150 bucks. The genius part is this...you really think you are getting a STEAL! People (being me and Erin) actually mark their calenders to spend money. Incredible.

Erin-I hope you remembered to spend yours!

What a marketing tool. I was in the Topeka store when one lady was redeeming her bucks; she had a boat load and she was getting a bigger boat of clothes. No wonder that Ella has the cutest clothes. Now if we can figure out how to get her to model for the store!

You're not the only one who has those dates on her calendar - add my name to the list! I actually just got my order in the mail today - all clothes for next spring.

BTW - I just read your comment on Mike and Erin's blog - you fly into Providence, TF Green Airport. It's the best airport in the world - small, easy to get around and our flights are always on time in and out of there. SW has flights to PVD, but I would guess from Houston you have to stop in Chicago or Baltimore.

Yep I spent mine--half at the store and half online. The real kicker is they gave me ANOTHER 25% off coupon to use on April 5. Yes it's on my calendar (Ellen, it's the day you come in so we may have to go straight from the airport to the mall!).

This thread needs to go on the store advertisement. You could probably get more gymbucks.

Note to self:
Thursday April 5th
Get up in the middle of the night to get ready for flight.
Fly to Norfolk in time for lunch at Baker's Crust.
Shop at Gymboree! I can do that.
I figure if you have a coupon, you can justify getting all the matching accessories!
