Stalkerazzi

I (heart) my photographer for the wedding. Now that I’ve actually hired him, I feel like I can admit that I’ve stalked him and his sister for years. In fact, I wrote a blog entry about how I was stalking them, but then deleted it because I was too embarrassed to admit it. A little background: Nathan was Shannon’s wedding photographer. He was so nice during the course of the day, and the finished product was so beautiful. Since then, he has started a blog which I check frequently (ok, constantly). Also, his sister, whom I also met at Shannon’s wedding, is so very sweet. I (actually there is more than just me, but I’m not ratting anyone else out) check her blog pretty frequently. She has a beautiful family, and her husband Tim is currently deployed in Iraq. I have frequently found myself reading the blog and getting a little misty eyed as I read about her 4 kids, and trying to handle day-to-day life while her husband is serving the country. You loyal half-street readers out there know that I’m a sucker for a nice military family. I always make sure to keep them in my prayers (…and please keep an eye on that lovely family in Indiana that doesn’t know me, but whose sacrifices I appreciate).
Anyway, I’m excited to have this detail nailed down. I know what you’re thinking…wait doesn’t this photographer live in Indiana? Are there not good photographers in Houston? Yes, and Yes. I’m sure there are PLENTY of good photographers in Houston. I don’t mean it as a diss on any hometown shutterbugs. But why roll the dice with the ONE wedding related expense that will actually last beyond the day, when I have a sure thing for a good price? If it’s true that the quality of the pictures is highly dependent on how comfortable you feel around the photographer (according to Kim’s photographer, whom I also adore, but despite all beautiful evidence to the contrary, isn’t really in the wedding business—unless I’m getting married at a football game), then I’m confident the Half Street will have wonderful pictures!

Hmmmmm getting married at a football game…now there’s an idea!

And just because I know it will put a smile on your collective faces, here is a picture of me in the first wedding I was ever in. That's me with the perm and braces, with my cousin Amy, and my Mom.

I'm surprised you didn't think of getting married at a baseball game. Probably saved Dad from a heart attack!

You Martinez women know how to wear a PUFF SLEEVE! Priceless...dare I say you'll be bringing the puff sleeve back for you or the maids?!

Wow your photog is great. That is probably the single most important decision to make about the wedding and you did it--it's all easy going from here on out.

I love that picture!

I continue to bow down to you, Master of the Blog. Well done and entertaining as usual! Also sounds like a great choice for a photographer. Ask Lisa sometime for some photographer horror stories from our wedding.
