A Motto to Live By

While perusing a new blog that Shannon told me about, I happened across a link to an interesting website. Learning To Love You More, posts "assignments" that are completed by the general public who then post the results on the website. I was intrigued by the assignment "Make an encouraging banner"
Think of something encouraging you often tell yourself. For example: Everything will be ok. Or: Don't listen to them. Or: It'll blow over. Now draw each letter of the sentence on a large piece of colored construction paper or big squares of fabric. One letter per piece. Draw them blocky so you can cut them out. Cut them out. Glue each one onto a piece of construction paper or fabric that is a contrasting color. Then glue the edges of all the pieces of paper or fabric together to make a banner. Hang the banner in a place where you or someone else might need some encouragement, for example, across your bathroom. Or between two trees so that you and your neighbors can receive encouragement from it. Or in a gas station.
While scrolling through the "reports" I was startled to see the one above. "Fake it till you make it" is something I frequently tell myself, when the task at hand seems impossible. I've found that if you just get started, the solution presents itself somewhere along the way. No where did this advice come in more handy than at last year's 3 Day. I don't know who said it first, or what made us think of it, but Angie and I repeated this phrase frequently to each other. We found that if we walked like we weren't in complete pain (no limping, no compensating for blisters) that soon the pain seemed to be a little more bearable. It was as if this person was speaking directly to me. Maybe one of them will speak to you...

I know you won't have to fake it this year; I'm sure you will be well trained and ready to go!
