Calling All Owls

A recent post I wrote had lots of replies, which I always love! I did want to clarify to the loyal Half Street readers out there that happen to be Longhorn fans, I didn't mean to insinuate that they are alllll D.B.'s. I know there are plenty of lovely longhorns...all 10 of which I know. Its the ones streaming towards the exit in the 3rd quarter I could do without. I kid, I kid! I know loads of people who probably feel the same way about Rice fans.
The same post brought up that the Godfather has a cousin who recently started at Rice. She's at Will Rice (that's what the insiders call it Sid-imagine a co-ed fraternity that you don't have to rush), and he wanted to know if I had any advice for her. Since 3/4's of the people who read the Half Street are Owls, I figured I would open it up to you guys to help me out. I'll start:

1. Make sure the key 'adults' at your college know who you are. College coordinators, Masters and RA's will almost always eventually be in a postion to help you, and its nice if when you're asking for said help, its not the first time you've talked to them
2. Meet people from other colleges. You'll always believe your college is the best one on campus (ahem, Brown) but I promise there are future friends of yours at each college on campus.

Posy, thanks for the longhorn love. We need it after the game yesterday. It was a sad night in Austin. Sid tells me another longhorn got arrested. Ha... Ha... Sid... And to think that I sat up with you and cheered for the Aggies last night.
We will pass the advice on to cousin Emily at Rice. Thanks!

1. Make sure the CK chicken tenders are cooked. 2. Co-advise at other colleges. You'll meet cool peeps like Posey. 3. Go to ALL of the football games.
