Rice-Lament Part 2

Ok, I wrote a whole complain-fest about watching Rice Sports on national television and it disappeared. I have NO idea what happened. I called McD (i've heard we're supposed to use initials) to complain, she accused me of something not so nice (being dumb, basically) so we're starting over. The bottom line is this:
How many injustices do Rice fans have to suffer? First off, we are playing football on a Wednesday. Seriously. Wednesday. It is official that Tuesday is the only day off from nationally covered football. That is until the Southland Conference gets the WE channel contract (what up Bearcats). Secondly our game is being called by Jesse the Bachelor. I'm not one to fault a guy for making a living, but seriously. I have to listen to a guy I've seen make out with multiple women, on national television, in a hot tub, talk shit about my Alma Mater? Wait, was that him? Who can tell. All the seasons run together now. Lastly, as I type we are winning. And yet, they can't find one single nice thing to say about our school. And no, that the boys are proud of their residential colleges does NOT count. Not that Jesse the Bachelor was there to know, but I think Rice Football has TONS going for it. Mainly we still managed to have a great time at the bowl last year, despite a total blow out. In fact, the outcome of the game paled in comparison to the fact that WE WERE THERE! Do texas fans get that hype about making a bowl? No. Why? As was recently told to us by BH of the Dreamer Foundation 'any douche bag can, and by all accounts does, cheer for u.t.' How hard is it to cheer for a winning program? It's like being a Yankee's fan--whoopdie-freakin'-do. Get back to me when you've supported a team that hasn't sniffed a bowl in your lifetime. All of sudden you find yourself losing to Troy State in New Orleans and saying, WOW how much fun was that?? Keep your fingers crossed that we pull it out against Southern Miss. And yes. I took the Owls straight up against Southern Miss. No one ever accused me of being smart.

I never accused you of being not smart... but maybe not sober. This game will lead you to drink though so totally not your fault. Jesse the D-bag Bachelor better watch his back... and our Defense better step it up too... I know where that bus pulls up to the school at 3 am and I am not afraid to be standing there waiting for them with the ultimate lecture about how hard it is to be a rice fan... miss a two point conversion already. THANK YOU! 2:45 left in this torture. Maybe I will just mute these last minutes.

Yea to a Rice win. I did hear them mention how Rice was a good school. Does that count? And why was that Southern Miss player majoring in Chemical Engineering? I thought we were the smart kids.

Also, I will not be using initials. We're not that popular to get stalkers.

You are a true fan, sweetheart. It is tough to love the ones that never win... or the ones that don't live up to all the hype!! (guess who?)

love you

Now, mind you, I am an Aggie and have difficulties of my own. So, you must consider the source.

I have always separated the t-shirt fan from the true-blue by when they support the team. It is always easy to support the winning teams, otherwise t-shirt companies would go bust. Supporting them when they are "in transition", or "rebuilding year", or "down year" is when the real fans come out.

Needless to say, currently, I am in full support of my Ags. I am sure you are in full support of the Owls.

For Kim, drinking in a lossing cause can only lead to liver disease. Take it from some one that has had plenty of opportunities.

As a UT graduate and fan, I'd like to think that I am not a "douche bag." I could argue that it is often tough to be a horns fan. Seems somebody hates us whether we are winning or losing. I applaud your loyalty! I like the Owls. But I wish everyone would give us a break here in Austin. We are not evil, really...

Hey Lisa, what do you say to a UT player in a suit?
"Would the defendant please rise"

Posey, I'm starting to think you Owls are quite a wild bunch. Our cousin is a Freshman and boy has she had some tales to tell! I just wish I could figure out this whole "house" or "college" or whatever they call "dorms" down there. She's in the "Rice" whatever. Any advise for a new, impressionable Owl?

or "advice", I'm not picky...

Sid, welcome to the world of Rice. You know, at Aggieland, they introduce themselves as "Howdy, _____, class of whatever"? Well, at Rice, it is is "____College". It is part of your persona, now. Posey was Brown College; just don't ask what their cheer at Beer Bike was!
